Snapchat In A Sinkhole, Thanks To KnowRoaming

My KnowRoaming Story: Amazing travel stories from our KnowRoaming customers as they explore the globe and stay connected with the KnowRoaming SIM Sticker

The Global SIM Sticker was created to help keep travelers connected everywhere—giant sinkholes included.

Anna Lysakowska, better known as travel blogger Anna Everywhere, recently faced her fear of heights as she repelled down Sima de las Cotorras, a giant sinkhole in Chiapas, Mexico. With the help of KnowRoaming, she documented her experience mid-rappel on Snapchat (@anna-everywhere).

Anna wrote about her experience on her blog. Here is a preview of her adventure:

Sima de las Cotorras, as the Spanish name indicates, is a huge sinkhole with a forest at the bottom of it. The sinkhole itself is 520-feet wide and 460-feet deep, so there are many birds and iguanas living in there, but the most iconic inhabitants are the green parakeets. The hole is home to hundreds of green parrots that fly out each morning and trickle back in every late afternoon. Like many other similar sinkholes in the area, Sima de las Cotorras was most likely formed out of the limestone rock by the gradual dissolving power of an underground river, such as the nearby Río La Venta. Another unique feature of this particular sinkhole is that 230 feet (70 meters) down from the rim there are 46 rock paintings, which experts believed were painted by ancestors of the native Zoque people as many as 10,000 years ago.

As I’ve recently got more active on Snapchat (@anna-everywhere) I really wanted to send my snaps to everyone as soon as possible without having to worry about catching the wifi. Thanks to KnowRoaming sticker I was able to be online throughout the whole rappelling experience. Now, what is this sticker? The KnowRoaming SIM Sticker is a one-time application Global SIM that connects you to local networks when traveling in over 200 countries. The sticker adheres to your existing SIM card, only activating when you travel and remains dormant while at home. Its system operates on a top-up basis through the app you can monitor what you spend and add money to your account as needed.
